USET(United States Equestrian Team) １９９８年1月、全米馬術団体USETの理事の投票によって、レイニングが第６番目の競技として取り入れられた。その理由は、レイニングはウエスタンライディングの中でももっともポピュラーな馬術の一つであり、国際競技としても成功しているということから、USETに参加するアメリカ初の馬術競技とするのが賢明とみなされたためである。 また、オリンピック馬術競技にレイニングを取り入れようという動きも進んでいる。
